Mandø Mølle

Here's a quick shot of the windmill on the Danish island of Mandø, off the western coast of Jutland. The island, reachable only during low tide, lies at the end of a muddy, rocky road through the marshland just south of Ribe. I know this because we drove out -- with a manual transmission, no less -- on several kilometers of what could only charitably be described as a 'road' to reach it. Think a bunch of rocks as big as your fist sunk into a muddy marsh -- that's the road to Mandø.

We bypassed the museum (history of the island going back to the 1200's -- in Danish, natch) and headed to the beach via a pathway we discovered was marked privat on the way back. This mølle (mill) dates from 1832.
