A good book for the long and tangled history of Wright’s involvement in this project, which spanned decades and several lawsuits between himself and his client is Hollyhock House and Olive Hill: Buildings And Projects for Aline Barnsdall. The 1995 Master Plan for all of Olive Hill is worth a read for how it tries to work through the issues of situating a rural arts complex in the middle of dense and congested East Hollywood.
