Swedish Fulbright Reception

Ferry

Friday was the meeting in Stockholm of both Americans who are researching in Sweden as well as Swedes selected to travel to the USA next academic year. We had a tour of the Vasa museum from Nate, a Fulbright alumni who's spent the last few years studying the rigging and ropes of the 1628 warship. Here he is, explaining exactly why the vessel keeled over on its maiden voyage, consigning itself to a chilly (if well-preserved) grave on the bottom of the harbor:

This was the first year that I'd visited the Vasa museum with my 10-20mm wide-angle lens, which I propped on a column together with my camera to get this shot:

Next was the Nordic Museum and a brief tour of Old Town:

The day ended with a fantastic reception at a large apartment on Strandvägen. All the pictures from the day are online here.
