Dimmalætting

The last weekend of the quarter is always a frantic time for finishing up final papers and getting ready for summer. Right now I'm finishing up an essay for my class on Faroese Literature. Turns out the 1878 newspaper I'm writing about, Dimmalætting [Dawn], is still published and online here. This was the first Faroese national newspaper, and played a key role in the 1888 debates about linguistic and cultural preservation which signified the awakening of Faroese nationalism. But websites themselves are so 1990s -- nowadays it even has a page on the English-language Wikipedia. Which, ironically, is much more complete that the equivalent page in Faroese.
