Just uploaded the floorplans for the townhouse I bought in Seattle. It's still under construction, due to be completed in January 2004. Under debate is which of the two bedrooms I use for a home office/TV room... the one on top is eastern exposure and the one below that (on the scan) is western. Having had an eastern exposure bedroom in my coöp in New York City, I can say I would rather not have blinding light wake me up, as well as heat the bedroom up to oven temperatures in the summer... so that may decide things.
In the meantime you can check out some pictures of similar townhouses recently completed in Eastlake, a little south of where my one is. My favorite things are the flooring on the main level and the stone backsplash in the kitchen area.
It's a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath, which is about the right size for me -- some of the other townhomes I looked at were really quite large (3 bedrooms, 3 baths). Disadvantages include no garage (although there is off-street parking in the back.) I may embark on a carport-building adventure if I get up the courage and/or confirm that it's tax-deductible as an 'improvement,' since I hear it rains quite a bit in Seattle and I don't want my car to float away.
Also looking forward to doing some mini-gardening in the mini-backyard -- probably in planters, mainly, since there isn't really enough raw earth to work with around the patio. Plus, IKEA has a sale on plastic plants this month...
