In what could be described as a naked attempt to generate a blog entry for testing purposes, I shall record here that at 8pm I finished the even-numbered excercises in Chapter 20 of German for Reading Knowledge.
Thus, I now know that Die durchschnittliche Zuwachsrate der Ausgaben des Staates für die deutsche Forschung und Entwicklung betrug in den Jahren zwischen 1980 und 1990 12,7 v.H., die der Wirtschaft 13,1 v.H. means The average growth rate of state expenditures for German research and development in the years 1980 to 1990 amounted to 12.7%, while in private industry expenditures grew 13.1% in the same period.
I'm going to try and use the word durchschnittliche in a meeting next week and see what develops.
